Fall Recap

Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year to get married.  Stunning foliage, rich colors and mild temperatures provide a picturesque backdrop.  Over the past two moths we’ve showcased a variety of fall wedding ideas from wedding themes, DIY wedding projects, inspiration boards, trends and how to videos.

Out of these two months I’ve chosen my top picks that best capture and showcase the fall season.

Wedding Theme

Picking a favorite wedding theme was a tough decision from the sunflower wedding, rustic wedding, barn wedding and outdoor wedding each had so much going for them.  It came down to the barn wedding theme and the outdoor wedding theme.

Impart the barn wedding came out on top thanks to the fabulous inspiration photo’s from afloral.com’s fall photo shoot.  A barn wedding is easy and affordable to style and customize.  Decor items can be kept simple with attention paid to key details for the right wedding look.  Pick and mix inexpensive wedding details for a country wedding with all the fixin’s, a styled country chic or simply rustic barn wedding.

The outdoor wedding theme was a close second.  Fall might not be the first season selected for an outdoor wedding, but once you weigh what it has to offer it comes in as an immediate winner.  Brides are offered a variety of options, venue choices can run from an open meadow get away, local gems such as a state park or garden or a charming orchard.  Outdoor weddings provide beautiful backdrops for wedding day photos, they offer a dual setting for ceremony and reception, and they are the perfect fit for a few easy DIY wedding projects.

Inspiration Board

The fall season is alive, showcasing a beautiful array of rich, vibrant color.  Color can be found in the right flowers, decor items and even bride’s maid dresses.  Mindy started the season off right back in September, offering a glimpse of what fall had to offer in her Fall Wedding Colors Inspiration Board.  Fiery reds, spicy oranges highlighted a few wedding options with a country chic dahlia silk flower bouquet, persimmon bride’s maid dress, tiered cake, invitations and gorgeous handmade crystal earrings.

Trend Alert

The fall menu guide post left our mouths watering for warm, rich and flavorful fall food while also hitting upon some of the hottest wedding food trends.  Go green while helping your local economy and your wedding budget by using in season local produce.  Eco-friendly food options are growing in popularity and are a must for modern, budget brides.  Down sized meal portions are a big trend that allow guests to have a taste of a variety of flavorful food while still being able to mingle throughout the reception.  Food stations are a huge hit mixing up your regular reception food choices with a soup bar, mac and cheese or baked potato station. Yum.

Once your menu is set the next thing in order is to have some fun.  From Mindy’s Fun Fall Wedding Ideas Post; give your wedding a modern spin, have fun, get funky and remember grown ups can have fun too.  Glitter and sparkle pumpkins, skip expensive tux rentals, serve some tasty childhood treats and don’t forget the games.

DIY Wedding Project

I hope you haven’t forgotten about our gorgeous dahlia fall centerpiece featured back in the beginning of September.  Well I sure haven’t, it’s my favorite fall DIY pick.  Easy, affordable and absolutely gorgeous a must for any fall DIY bride.  Rich, vibrant dahlias in orange and plum, burgundy are accented by a burst of green moss and neutral grapevine balls.  Assembly takes less than 5 minutes and a single centerpiece breaks down at a cost under $30.  I love it, you love it and of course your guests will love it.

Sunflower Wedding

How -To Video Top Pick
