Ijeoma’s Pale Pink & Cream White Wedding

Ijeoma writes:
I am a bride who has her wedding coming up in March. However, I want a lovely bouquet that is a mixture of light pink and off white colors. If they could be real touch flowers that will be lovely.

Ijeoma, I started with a photo from Best Destination Wedding featuring Real Touch Orchids & Calla Lilies and Roses & Peonies.  Although we do not do custom orders, the inspiration board will help you select your flowers for your bouquet.  We also offer floral design help through our How-To Videos.  Happy Planning, Mindy

Wedding Ceremony Ideas

wedding ceremony, wedding-planning-101.com

Are you ready to walk down the aisle with style?

So often we talk about how to plan your wedding reception, from centerpiece ideas, chair backs to favors and food.  But aren’t we getting ahead of ourselves?

Before you can enjoy a fabulous evening of family, friends and festivities celebrating your new union in marriage, you need to get through the wedding ceremony.  The ceremony is your day’s main attraction, what everyone came to see.  Here’s how you can make it look good.

The wedding ceremony venue is important in determining your décor.  You want your wedding theme to be carried through each part of your wedding from the ceremony and into the following reception.  For wedding ceremonies taking place in a church most likely décor will be a bit more traditional, with pew and altar floral arrangements, aisle runners, bouquets and boutonnieres for the bridal party. If your ceremony is taking place outdoors or indoors banquet venue you might have a little more room to wiggle in some different stylish touches in your aisle decorations, floral arrangements and accessories for the bridal party.

Let’s take a look at what you’ll need to add some style to your wedding ceremony from the traditional ceremony décor to a few fun ideas that will mix it up.  Armed with a couple DIY wedding projects and tips you can get a great look without a huge dent into your wedding budget.  Music to any bride and groom’s ears.

The Prelude

Set the stage for the main attraction, let’s talk aisle décor.  Silk flowers make gorgeous and affordable accents for ceremony chairs or aisle pew markers.  Consider using any of our fall or winter DIY chair backs to fit your wedding theme.  Pomander or kissing silk floral balls also make an easy and beautiful accent with out any prep work or time.  They are available in a variety of colors from tangerine orange to traditional red roses;  save by ordering them in bulk they run around $7-$10 a piece.

Thursday’s how to post featured two different DIY wedding aisle runner ideas, maybe not the first DIY wedding project you might think of.  But making your own aisle runner will add some style and personal touches also saving you possibly $50-$60 or more.   Finish the backdrop of your ceremony decor with floral arrangement around your altar.

Act I

Who’s up to start the ceremony before the bride takes her fairytale walk down the aisle?  The bridal party.  Make them look good with the right accessories and special touches.  A traditional look for bridesmaids will be matching dresses and small clutch bouquets.  Make sure to have arrangements set for fittings well in advance of your wedding date so there are no last minute surprises.  Pre-made silk flower bouquets are the perfect accessory for bride’s maids and hassle free.  Ordering in bulk will save you even more money.  Give them a finished look by adding satin ribbon or Velcro bouquet wraps.

If you want to break from tradition and mix up your bride’s maid’s look try something fun like the picture shown, brightly colored leggings in various colors will catch everyone’s eye.  The same guidelines pertain to the groom’s men’s look, remember back to Jillenne’s wedding we loved the men’s blue chuck taylors that matched the blue wedding theme.  Way to add a fun quirk that will make guest smile and show off some personal style.

Other members of the bridal party to think of are your flower girls and ring bearers.  These little participants can’t be left out when it comes to planning their wedding look.   While the flower girl will have her hands busy with a basket of petals she still needs her own flower to match the bride’s maids.  Pick a larger silk floral bloom and make this cute DIY flower girl sash to add to her look.  Another great DIY wedding project from marthastewart.com an announcement banner to walk down the aisle announcing the start of the wedding party.

Act II

In act II all eyes are on you.  Next to your dress guests will be eyeing your bridal bouquet.  Take the time to design the perfect arrangement that will add a pop of color and style to your look.  Build a bouquet will give  you choose ideas for the type of silk flowers and accents like ribbon or stem wraps, don’t forget little touches like jeweled or feather sprays and bouquet brooches.  Once you’ve got your bouquet flowers set carry the look over into your groom’s look.  Refer back to our easy DIY boutonniere post to make your own groom and groom’s men’s boutonnieres.  A little time on this project will save you tons of cash with the cost coming out at around $2-$5 a piece.

wedding car tags, theknot.com

Prologue

It’s time to transition from the wedding ceremony to the reception.  Carry over your wedding look and festive mood as guests move from one location to the next.  Whether your reception is a room away or guests have to hop in their cars to get across town send them on their way with a favor from the ceremony.  That’s right break with tradition, who says they can’t get a wedding favor until the reception?  This would work great if your transitioning from an outdoor venue.  In the hot months have available parasols or oriental fans, in the cooler months little wraps for the women to drape around their shoulders.

If your reception venue does require guest to travel provide these great car tags for them to attach to their cars.  This will help keep the wedding party together and lead the way to the reception.

Pulling it all Together within your Budget

From all your ceremony needs into your reception festivities the right DIY wedding projects paired with a few tips and a plan can help you stay within your wedding budget.  Silk flowers are the perfect fit for projects with a bonus they are affordable and yet still beautiful.  Browse through all of afloral.com’s resources like our weekly DIY wedding project posts, wedding design ideas, build a bouquet center and you tube videos to customize your whole wedding look.

Fall Wedding Season: Top Picks

fall wedding flora2000.com

Fall Recap

Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year to get married.  Stunning foliage, rich colors and mild temperatures provide a picturesque backdrop.  Over the past two moths we’ve showcased a variety of fall wedding ideas from wedding themes, DIY wedding projects, inspiration boards, trends and how to videos.

Out of these two months I’ve chosen my top picks that best capture and showcase the fall season.

fall, barn wedding

Wedding Theme

Picking a favorite wedding theme was a tough decision from the sunflower wedding, rustic wedding, barn wedding and outdoor wedding each had so much going for them.  It came down to the barn wedding theme and the outdoor wedding theme.

Impart the barn wedding came out on top thanks to the fabulous inspiration photo’s from afloral.com’s fall photo shoot.  A barn wedding is easy and affordable to style and customize.  Decor items can be kept simple with attention paid to key details for the right wedding look.  Pick and mix inexpensive wedding details for a country wedding with all the fixin’s, a styled country chic or simply rustic barn wedding.

The outdoor wedding theme was a close second.  Fall might not be the first season selected for an outdoor wedding, but once you weigh what it has to offer it comes in as an immediate winner.  Brides are offered a variety of options, venue choices can run from an open meadow get away, local gems such as a state park or garden or a charming orchard.  Outdoor weddings provide beautiful backdrops for wedding day photos, they offer a dual setting for ceremony and reception, and they are the perfect fit for a few easy DIY wedding projects.

Inspiration Board

The fall season is alive, showcasing a beautiful array of rich, vibrant color.  Color can be found in the right flowers, decor items and even bride’s maid dresses.  Mindy started the season off right back in September, offering a glimpse of what fall had to offer in her Fall Wedding Colors Inspiration Board.  Fiery reds, spicy oranges highlighted a few wedding options with a country chic dahlia silk flower bouquet, persimmon bride’s maid dress, tiered cake, invitations and gorgeous handmade crystal earrings.

Wedding food stations, weddingbee.com

Trend Alert

The fall menu guide post left our mouths watering for warm, rich and flavorful fall food while also hitting upon some of the hottest wedding food trends.  Go green while helping your local economy and your wedding budget by using in season local produce.  Eco-friendly food options are growing in popularity and are a must for modern, budget brides.  Down sized meal portions are a big trend that allow guests to have a taste of a variety of flavorful food while still being able to mingle throughout the reception.  Food stations are a huge hit mixing up your regular reception food choices with a soup bar, mac and cheese or baked potato station. Yum.

Once your menu is set the next thing in order is to have some fun.  From Mindy’s Fun Fall Wedding Ideas Post; give your wedding a modern spin, have fun, get funky and remember grown ups can have fun too.  Glitter and sparkle pumpkins, skip expensive tux rentals, serve some tasty childhood treats and don’t forget the games.

DIY Wedding Project

I hope you haven’t forgotten about our gorgeous dahlia fall centerpiece featured back in the beginning of September.  Well I sure haven’t, it’s my favorite fall DIY pick.  Easy, affordable and absolutely gorgeous a must for any fall DIY bride.  Rich, vibrant dahlias in orange and plum, burgundy are accented by a burst of green moss and neutral grapevine balls.  Assembly takes less than 5 minutes and a single centerpiece breaks down at a cost under $30.  I love it, you love it and of course your guests will love it.

Sunflower Wedding

How -To Video Top Pick

In case you didn’t already know afloral.com has it’s own youtube channel with great how-to wedding inspiration videos, breaking down step by step wedding projects from centerpieces, chairbacks to bouquets.  My top pick for the season is the cheerful sunflower centerpiece.  Jane shows you how to arrange beautiful silk sunflowers and daisies into simple centerpieces that will bring plenty of warmth and happiness to any wedding.

Thanks for stopping in, I hope you enjoyed all that fall had to offer and all that afloral.com had to offer this wedding season.  As we transition into the winter and the winter wedding season I hope you’ll be a regular stopping back.  Afloral.com has some stunning winter wedding inspiration around the corner.  Browse through the main site for new photos/ themes and a preview of whats to come!

DIY Fall Pumpkin Centerpiece

Fall Foliage, phillyburbs.com

The fall season is quickly coming to an end and with Halloween just around the corner you didn’t think I was going to let it all go by without a fun, creative pumpkin wedding project.  Did you?  Capture the spirit and color of the vibrant fall season with this DIY wedding pumpkin centerpiece.  I came across the image below in a oncewed.com forum, it is the perfect arrangement idea for a fall wedding at the height of the harvest season.

In season pumpkins are  cheap.  They are a fabulous inexpensive decor item and DIY project, pair one with silk wedding flowers for even more savings and a beautiful fall floral arrangement.  The pumpkin centerpiece featured today contains vibrant orange tiger lilies, soft orange roses, sunflowers accented by wheat stalks and greenery.

The flowers featured in the arrangement are such a great collection of what the season has to offer.  The world is truly alive in fall, vivid colors, beautiful temperatures, sights and smells to ignite the senses.  The tiger lilies and sunflowers capture the untamed spirit of fall; gorgeous wild flowers you’d find throughout nature.  The orange roses complement both flowers while adding a touch of elegance.  Accented by greenery and wheat stalks the whole arrangement is brought together.  The perfect addition for any fall wedding table.

Project Break Down

pumpkin wedding centerpiece, forums.oncewed.com

Materials:

  1. To start you need to prep your pumpkin.  Whether you’re using a real or craft pumpkin cut off the lid, top of the pumpkin leaving a good size circumference for the floral arrangement.  If you are using a real pumpkin scoop and scrap the pulp and seeds out.  To help preserve the life of your real pumpkin rub vaseline in the inside of the pumpkin.
  2. Once the pumpkin is prepped, next prep your floral stems and sprays.  Using wire cutters trim and separate your flower stems and greenery so they will be easier to arrange.
  3. Now let’s get started.  Cut a rectangle out of the floral foam shape  and insert it into your pumpkin.  You can start arranging your centerpiece.  Start with the greenery so they will sit closer to the base and fill out the arrangement.  Then insert your selected stems to your liking, you may use the photo as a guide.
  4. Last are the finishing touches, wheat stalks and wisp of twig or grapevine.  Take 3-4 wheat stalks, keeping them at different lengths, loosely tied or bunch them together.  Then insert them at an angle threw the front center of the arrangement.  Shape some individual strains of twig or grapevine into arcs and inserted towards the back of  the arrangement.

Why it works

This pumpkin centerpiece would be a beautiful centerpiece however you arranged the flowers, what makes it unique and intriguing is the use of the wheat stalks and wisps of twigs arced toward the back.  It would be easy enough to trim and stick the individual wheat stalks standing upright throughout the arrangement, by creating a small bundle and inserting them at an angle through the side of the arrangement you are creating interest.

This centerpiece is unique because it is interesting to look at.  The stunning fall flower hues immediately catch your eye bringing your interested in, you take note of the creative angle used with the wheat stalks, while the wisps of twig or grapevine arc your view back to the whole arrangement.  It brings you full circle as you then realize the pumpkin is being used as the vase.  Genius, gorgeous the perfect fall wedding centerpiece capturing the beauty and spirit of the season.
